Norfolk Catholic volleyball stuns Lutheran High Northeast at Crofton triangular
The Norfolk Catholic volleyball team pulled off a stunner last night. At the Crofton triangular, the Lady Knights snapped a personal five match losing streak to Lincoln Journal Star fifth ranked in Class ‘D-1’ Lutheran High Northeast after earning a three-set 25-22, 24-26, 25-18 victory.
Mary Fennessy & Abby Miller both had nine kills and six blocks a piece and Carly Marshall recorded 27 set assists and had four aces in the win. Teammate Hayden Wolf added 14 digs. The Lady Eagles’ Becca Gebhardt had 15 kills, 23 digs, and four aces while Chloe Spence recorded 21 assists. Lutheran High Northeast now leads the head-to-head matchup dating back to 1998 12-7. They went on to edge Crofton in three sets afterwards. Scores of the match had the Lutheran High Northeast winning 22-25, 25-19, 25-23. Gebhardt had 14 kills and 22 digs while Spence dished out 24 set assists. The Lady Eagles are now 14-6 on the season. Norfolk Catholic, earlier in the evening defeated Crofton 25-21, 25-21. Miller had nine kills and six blocks. Marshall dished out 21 assists, Wolf dug up ten balls, and Fennessy had three aces in the win. The Lady Knights, after the two wins, improve to 3-9 on the year.
