Cambodian-Born American Killed
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) _ A Cambodian-born U.S. citizen was killed over the weekend in a drive-by shooting on a busy street in the capital, Phnom Penh, police said today.
Nuon Chhoeut, the owner of Western-Orient Construction Co., was shot twice while driving in his car with his wife and child Saturday night, said police official Mok Chito. His wife and child survived the attack, he said.
The shots were fired by a gunman riding on the back of a motorcycle, the official said, adding that attack appeared to stem from a personal dispute, the official said.
A U.S. Embassy spokesman in Phnom Penh confirmed that Nuon Chhoeut was an American citizen, but was unable to provide a hometown or any further details.
