MARIAH CAREY’S “ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU” SETS NEW SPOTIFY RECORD
NEW YORK (AP) — A lot of people were grooving to “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey on Christmas Eve on Spotify. DRUMMER JEREMY SPENCER LEAVES FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Drummer Jeremy Spencer is amicably parting ways with Five Finger Death Punch because of health concerns. Spencer recently had a second back surgery and will need a significant amount of time to recover. He says in a statement he’s gotten to the point where he cannot deliver a performance that brings him satisfaction and joy, and the band deserves someone with fire and energy. Five Finger Death Punch supports his decision. Spencer was the drummer for 14 years. He sat out Five Finger Death Punch’s fall tour with Breaking Benjamin.
JUKEBOX THE GHOST RUN DOWN THEIR REPETOIRE OF DRUMMER JOKES
CHICAGO (AP) — Jukebox The Ghost drummer Jessie Kristin estimates he makes fun of the fact that he’s a drummer at least three times a week. The band visited a radio station recently and the guard at the door said, “Is this the talent?” Kristin’s response: “No, just the drummer.” Kristin collects drummer jokes. One is, “What was the last thing the drummer said before he got fired from the band? ‘Hey guys, I wrote some songs!’” Another is, “How do you get a drummer off of your front porch? You pay him or her for the pizza.” Guitarist Tommy Siegel’s drummer joke is, “What do you call a drummer without a girlfriend? Homeless.”

PETER HOOK WILL AUCTION FAN’S EP
NEW YORK (AP) — One of the items Peter Hook of Joy Division and of New Order will be auctioning off is some fan’s copy of Joy Division’s first EP. Hook tells Rolling Stone magazine a fan had sent the “An Ideal For Living” EP to him to autograph. Hook lost the envelope to send it back and he says he “felt guilty about it for quite a while.” Hook says it’s the only example he has of singer Ian Curtis’ signature. Hook jokes he probably shouldn’t say that because everyone is going to claim it’s their EP. Omega Auctions will sell the EP and Hook’s collection of personal items March 2 outside Manchester in the U.K.
