City, county offices closed
La PORTE — Due to the extreme weather, La Porte City Offices will be closed on Wednesday and until noon Thursday.
The La Porte County Commissioners have declared a Level 2 Travel Watch, per Indiana Code 10.14.3.29.5. This means conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. Only essential travel is recommended. Essential travel is defined as: to and from work and emergency situations.
“Due to the extreme frigid temperatures in our area, I would encourage everyone to stay in and stay safe,” said La Porte Mayor Mark Krentz
La Porte County offices will also be closed Wednesday and Thursday due to extreme weather.
Transit Triangle County Commuter Service will suspend service at 6 p.m. Tuesday, and will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. Service will resume a regular schedule on Friday.
All La Porte County Public Library locations will remain closed until 1 p.m. Thursday.
Current forecasts show Wednesday’s weather will bring severe cold to the region. Residents needing emergency shelter are urged to call 211 for resources through United Way.
