Area police on the hunt for robbery, burglary suspects

Rock Falls, Sterling and Dixon police are busy running down leads, trying to find several suspects wanted in a recent rash of armed robberies and a burglary.

In Rock Falls, police still are searching for the man who robbed Big D’s Video Slots, 200 E. Fourth St., shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday. He is 5-foot-8 to 6 feet tall and slim, and was wearing a gray and black sweatshirt.

Police are withholding the type of weapon he used, information they’re holding back that they will need to make sure they have the right person when an arrest is made.

Anyone with information on the Big D robbery is asked to call Rock Falls police at 815-622-1140, or the anonymous reward hotline, Whiteside County Crime Stoppers, at 815-625-7867.

In Dixon, police released a photo Friday of Ryan J. Martinez, 39, of Sterling, who is charged with burglary and theft in a July 22 break-in at Wendy’s, in which more that $500, was taken.

Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to call Dixon police at 815-288-4411, or Lee-Ogle Crime Stoppers at 888-228-4488.

Sterling police are asking for information on the armed robbery at El Vaquero Food Market, 1221 W. Fourth Street, which was was robbed at gunpoint around 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Jacinda I. Garza, 38, of Sterling is in Whiteside County Jail on $250,000 bond, charged with armed robbery in that case.

Owner Jose Cano said one man, and possibly two, were with her, one of whom came inside the store and tried to distract him, he thinks to facilitate the crime.
