Italian Republic Joins World Bank

WASHINGTON (AP)_ San Marino, a republic located in central Italy near the Adriatic coast, joined the World Bank Thursday, becoming its 182 member. The bank makes loans to member countries to help them finance development projects.

Both the bank and its sister institution, the International Monetary Fund, now have 182 members.

San Marino has a population of about 27,000.
