Man dies in hit-and-run crash pulling out of Cleveland restaurant parking lot
CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 45-year-old man died early Saturday in a hit-and-run crash in the city’s Glenville neighborhood.
Dion Liddell, 45, died in the crash, police said.
The crash happened about 2:40 a.m. on St. Clair Avenue and East 124th Street.
Liddell pulled out of the Open Pitt Bar-B-Que parking lot onto East 124th Street, police said. The carryout restaurant is open until 2:30 a.m. on weekends.
A 2008 Dodge Charger speeding “well in excess” of the 25-mile-per-hour speed limit crashed into Liddell’s 2014 Nissan Versa, police said.
The Charger smashed into the driver’s side of Liddell’s car, pushing it back about 115 feet, police said.
The Charger kept driving until it crashed into a utility pole on the southwest corner of the intersection, police said.
The driver of the Charger ran off and has not been found by police.
