Western Arizona Humane Society’s new shelter opens

By BRANDON MESSICK Today’s News-HeraldMay 14, 2019

Workers for the Western Arizona Humane Society arrived to work early Monday morning with the opening of the organization’s new, state-of-the-art facility at 2010 Sweetwater Ave.

The new, 18,000 square-foot facility features glass-enclosed kennels for dogs and cats, centralized cooling, a well-equipped surgical area, an enclosed “friendship park” for dogs, power-washing mechanisms to keep the facility sanitary; and a secured intake area to be used by Lake Havasu City’s animal control officers. The facility will also include a short-term housing area for pets who have been spayed, neutered, vaccinated and are awaiting space in the organization’s adoption kennels – all within sight of SR 95.
