Man floating face down pulled from water in Milford
MILFORD — A man found floating face down in the Point Beach area of the city Friday is clinging to life, officials said.
Police received a 911 call shortly before 3 p.m. about a man floating in the water near the shoreline at the end of Platt Street, Fire Battalion Chief Anthony Fabrizi said.
Milford Police Public Information Officer Mike DeVito said around 6 p.m. the man was clinging to life.
After bystanders pulled the man from the water, fire department dispatchers guided them through CPR until first responders got to the scene, Fabrizi said. Paramedics provided the man with advanced life support and he was taken to Milford Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Witnesses said they saw the man go into the water and start swimming, but found him floating face down about 10 minutes later.
The man, who police have not identified, is white and believed to be between 50 and 60 years old. He was wearing blue shorts, a black shirt and gray sneakers. He was carrying a tan towel.
Anyone who might have any information about the man is asked to call Milford police at 203-878-6551.
