Speeding stop reportedly yields about 5 pounds of meth
STANTON — What is believed to be one of the largest drug busts in Northeast Nebraska took place Saturday evening.
A 28-year-old Minnesota woman was arrested Saturday evening on felony drug charges in the largest seizure of methamphetamine in Stanton County history, said Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger.
Nicole R. Kroells of Norwood Young America, Minn., was arrested following a traffic stop on Highway 15 about 9 miles south of Pilger for speeding at about 7 p.m.
She was found to be in possession of about five pounds of suspected methamphetamine that was recovered hidden inside the interior of the vehicle, Unger said.
She was enroute to Minneapolis from Phoenix and is a previously convicted felon with drug convictions. Kroells faces felony charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver and failure to obtain a Nebraska drug tax stamp, Unger said.
She is currently incarcerated pending her first court appearance.
