Nobody hurt in large commercial fire in downtown LA
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say nearly 100 firefighters responded as flames ripped through the top floor of a four-story commercial building in downtown Los Angeles.
Fire Department spokeswoman Amy Bastman says nobody was hurt in the intense blaze early Monday in the city’s fashion district. Television news footage showed huge flames shooting from windows on all sides of the building.
Bastman says crews knocked down the fire in about a half-hour.
The cause of the blaze and the value of the loss are under investigation.
Metro Rail service on Washington Boulevard was temporarily shut down due to the fire.
