Former Sen. Donald Dworak of Columbus dies
Former Sen. Donald Dworak of Columbus, who served in the Legislature from 1975 to 1983, died in Columbus on Monday.
Dworak was 83.
During his years in the Legislature, Dworak gained enactment of the Nebraska Habitat Stamp Act, which authorizes a special hunting license fee to fund the purchase and leasing of lands to provide critical cover for game birds and animals.
The legislation also protects hunting access throughout the state.
In 2014, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission honored Dworak for his efforts by naming a statewide wildlife management area near Monroe in his honor.
