Troopers: Woman jumped out of patrol car on the way to jail
Troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said a DWI suspect jumped from an officer’s cruiser on the way to jail in Johnston County late Saturday night.
According to officials, the woman was pulled over east of Clayton at W. Olive Road and U.S. Highway 70 Business around 11:15 p.m. After her arrest, troopers said she got out of her seatbelt, opened the cruiser door and ran.
The woman, who was not named, faces a number of charges, including DWI, assault on a law enforcement officer, careless and reckless driving and child abuse. Because the patrol car was damaged, she also faces damage to state property.
