Football: Clear Falls wins shootout with Bellaire, 69-46
Clear Falls amassed 705 total yards and won its third consecutive game for the first time in school history with a 69-46 victory over Houston Bellaire Friday night in a non-district football game at Butler Stadium.
Clear Falls quarterback Gavin Esquivel completed 24 of 26 passes for 492 yards and four touchdowns in the victory.
Esquivel’s scoring passes covered 36, 39, and 55 yards to Dorian Mason and 34 yards to Brandon Woodson.
The Knights led 21-7 after one quarter, 42-27 at halftime and 55-46 entering the fourth quarter.
Clear Falls (3-1) put the game away in the final period on touchdown runs of 40 yards by Donte Proctor and 38 yards by Patrick Florence.
Other Knight touchdowns came from Jude Ballew on a 5-yard run, Daniel Dishman on a 48-yard run and a 1-yard run by Florence.
Mason had seven receptions for 115 yards while Florence led the ground game with 13 carries for 73 yards.
Bellaire rolled up 544 yards with wide receiver Willie Branch catching eight passes for 164 yards and three touchdowns.
Clear Falls opens District 24-6A play next Friday against Clear Springs.
