SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Hundreds of homes remain evacuated in northern Utah as fire crews work to contain two lightning-caused wildfires near Spanish Fork.

The two fires combined had burned more than 127 square miles as of Saturday.

Neither fire has destroyed any homes but hundreds of people who live in Woodland Hills, Elk Ridge and Covered Bridge have been evacuated.

Several lanes of U.S. Highway 6 and U.S. Highway 89 were closed in the area.

Officials shut down a nearby gas line and asked thousands of people living between the cities of Provo and Nephi to conserve gas.

Residents were also urged to stay indoors as heavy smoke choked the area.
