1 killed in wrong-way Southern California freeway wreck
LOS ANGELES (AP) — One person was killed and several others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash after the driver of an allegedly stolen pickup truck sped the wrong way on a Southern California freeway.
The pickup entered Interstate 210 Monday afternoon, heading westbound in the eastbound lanes until the violent head-on crash in the city of Claremont in eastern Los Angeles County.
A law enforcement official tells The Associated Press a 2-year-old child was in the vehicle when it was stolen but the driver apparently didn’t notice.
The official says the driver dropped the child off a few blocks away and the child was not injured.
The official wasn’t authorized to publicly discuss the matter and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.
