The USA 16U Gold softball team won its state tournament last weekend.
The championship game was played at Jane Sage Cowles Field, the stadium for the University of Minnesota softball team in Minneapolis.
Ella Wienenke and Jadyn Koestering both played stellar defense. Lexi Chase pitched very well and she and Breeana Todd each batted over .500 for the tournament. Gold outscored its rivals 21-2.
The team consists of: Kylie Swee (Eyota), Breeana Todd (Eyota), Ella Wieneke (Rochester), Jadyn Koestering (Rochester), Emma Karthieser (Oronoco), Lexi Chase (Chatfield), Emilee Buringa (St. Charles), Avery Steffen (Zumbrota), Britney Meier (Winona) and Olivia Stevens (St. Peter).
Coaches are Jerry Chase and John Koestering.
