Memory Of Fatal Auto Accident ‘Can’t Be Forgotten,’ Beauty Queen Says
ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) _ The new Miss Florida-USA says that an automobile accident in which a pedestrian was killed and she was arrested on a charge of vehicular homicide ″can’t be forgotten.″
Despite the charge, Kathy Rosenwinkel, 20, of Altamonte Springs, can keep her crown and represent the state in the Miss USA Pageant in Miami in May, pageant officials said Tuesday.
As a result of the Feb. 27, 1984, accident, Miss Rosenwinkel is in a four- year pre-trial program in Alachua County. If her record is clean at the end of that time, charges will be dropped.
″I love people,″ she said. The accident ″will stick with me the rest of my life. It can’t be forgotten.″
She won the title Saturday in Fort Lauderdale.
