CLEVELAND, Ohio -- It’s August! You’ve got one more month of summer, so get out on Lake Erie and savor it.

Shop on the lake, rock on the river or climb a historic lighthouse.

Starting Friday

Vermilion Beach Market: The second annual Vermilion Beach Market at Sherod Park is a chance to shop by the beach from over 60 vendors for vintage, shabby and chic decor including furniture, architectural salvage, as well as jewelry, clothing, art and more. Friday 3-9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Rockin’ on the River: The open-air concerts at Black River Landing are both Friday and Saturday nights. On Friday, Eliminator, a ZZ Top Tribute band plays, with special guests Harvest, a Neil Young Tribute, for $5. On Saturday, it’s Shining Star, an Earth, Wind & Fire tribute band, with Hollywood Swinging, a Kool & the Gang tribute, and BBI, for $10.

Friday and Saturday, gates open at 5:30 p.m., with the opener at 6:15 p.m. and headliner at 8:30 p.m.

Starting Saturday

Port Clinton Lighthouse Festival: Take a free tour of the Port Clinton Lighthouse, the last remaining timber frame pier light on Lake Erie, during the second annual Port Clinton Lighthouse Festival.  Hear docents explain the importance of the pier light to local navigation. Climb the wooden spiral staircase to the lantern room and view the fully functioning fifth-order Fresnel lens. Enjoy live music, and face-painting and balloons for the kids. Saturday 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Wendy Island BBQ Beach Party: Grab some grub and enjoy  summer at the Wendy Park Beach BBQ Party sponsored by Whiskey Island Still & Eatery. The $20 entry includes a choice of barbecue chicken, pork or brisket. Beach vibes will be provided by Cheeseburger In Paradise, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band, and Mark Augustine’s Steel Drum Band! Saturday 4-11 p.m.

Aug. 8

Lakeside Symphony Candlelight Showcase: Ticket holders will enjoy a unique evening home tour through the streets of Lakeside with candlelit paths to each home, which will feature small symphonic ensembles of Lakeside Symphony Orchestra musicians. Tickets are $40, plus the gate fee of $23.50. Aug. 8, 8-10 p.m.
