2 face charges of child molesting
A Fort Wayne man and a man from Delaware County were charged this week with child molesting in separate cases that both involved local children.
An arrest warrant is out for both.
The local resident, Charles D. Chandler, 26, of the 2100 block of Cozy Court allegedly started performing sex acts when a girl was 9 years old, court documents said, behavior that went on until she was 12, when her biological father found out.
The girl said in interviews with police and at the Dr. Bill Lewis Child Advocacy Center that Chandler’s sexual aggressiveness toward her got progressively worse, court documents said.
She said Chandler also made her drink alcohol to the point that it made her throw up, according to court documents, and he tried to get her to smoke marijuana.
Chandler was charged with three counts of child molesting and dissemination of matter harmful to minors with a misdemeanor charge for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
In the other case, Kevin Sims, 33, of Muncie is accused of molesting several local children between Christmas Day 2016 and August 2017. The children, who were relatives, included a 7-year-old boy and three girls ages 6, 4 and 3.
According to court documents, when the children’s mother found out about the alleged sex acts, she kicked him out of the house and Sims moved to an out-of-town hotel, one of the children told law enforcement.
Sims was charged with three counts of child molesting and dissemination of matter harmful to children.
