Reds GM Interviews With Dodgers
CINCINNATI (AP) _ Cincinnati Reds general manager Jim Bowden has talked with Dodgers officials about taking the same job in Los Angeles.
The Reds said Friday they gave the Dodgers permission to interview Bowden, and The Cincinnati Post reported he flew to Los Angeles the same day.
Bowden’s contract with the Reds runs through the end of next season.
Tommy Lasorda is the Dodgers’ interim general manager, and plans to remain with the team as an adviser next season.
The Dodgers also plan to interview Florida Marlins general manager Dave Dombrowski and have received permission to talk with other candidates.
Bowden could not be reached Saturday. The Reds were in Montreal, but the team hotel said Bowden had canceled his reservation.
Telephone messages were left at the offices of both the Reds and Dodgers. The Dodgers playing were in Atlanta.
