Dow Slips 30 in Early Trading

March 18, 1999

NEW YORK (AP) _ Stock prices have opened lower. The Dow Jones industrial average is down 30 points in today’s early going. Losers on the New York Stock Exchange hold a 3-2 lead over gainers.

The Nasdaq Composite Index is down five points and the S&P 500 Index is down two points.

The blue-chip index has declined two sessions in a row, and it’s again facing an upward battle, at least in the early going.

Overseas markets have been uniformly lower today, following yesterday’s Wall Street losses.

And there could be a fair amount of volatility for stocks today, with tomorrow’s triple-witching session, featuring the simultaneous expirations of options and futures contracts.
