Lueders Wins Bobsled Season Title
ALTENBERG, Germany (AP) _ Alexander Subkov and Alexei Voyevoda won the two-man race Saturday at a bobsled World Cup event, while Pierre Lueders of Canada captured the season title.
The Russians, picking up their second win this season, finished the two heats in 1 minute, 49.65 seconds. Matthias Hoepfner and Ronny Listner of Germany finished second in 1:49.82.
Lueders and pusher Lascelles Brown took third in 1:50.40 and claimed the seven-race season title with 510 points. Subkov was second with 489 points.
Todd Hays of the United States was third with 460 points and was among several top pilots who passed up the chance at the overall title by skipping the race due to Olympic preparations or illness.
Swiss pilot Martin Annen and Germany’s Andre Lange and Rene Spies also didn’t take part.
