Floods force Montpellier to play next game away
MONTPELLIER, France (AP) — Montpellier will play its next game in the French league away at Lyon after its stadium was damaged by floods.
Montpellier was set to host the seven-time champions on Oct. 19 at La Mosson Stadium but heavy damages to the stands and pitch made it impossible to organize the fixture.
The French league said on Thursday that Lyon agreed to reverse the order of its games against Montpellier to give the southern club more time to find an alternative solution for its home matches.
Montpellier’s stadium is likely to be closed for three months.
Violent storms hit parts of southern France on Monday night, leaving the city flooded for the second time in a week.
