DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) _ Nicky LeRoux shot an even-par 72 for a two-stroke victory over Alison Nicholas in the LPGA Qualifying tournament.

LeRoux finished play Friday with a 4-under 284 total on the 6,355-yard Indigo Lakes Country Club course. Nicholas closed with a 75.

Jean Zedlitz shot a 71 to finish third at 289 and Evelyn Orley was fourth at 290 after a 72. Laura Baugh, who first joined the tour in 1973, finished seventh at 292 after a 74.

The top 18 players gained full exempt status on the 1993 LPGA tour.


TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) - Third-seeded Jim Grabb of the United States beat eighth-seeded Patrick Kuhnen of Germany 6-3, 6-1 and Jamie Morgan of Australia defeated Andrei Olhovskiy of Russia 6-7 (7-5), 7-5, 7-5 today to advance to the final of the Pacific Cup.

Grabb beat Morgan in the first round of the Queensland Open in Brisbane, Australia, last month.


EL PASO, Texas (AP) - Robert Damron of Central Florida shot a 5-under-par 66 to take a two-stroke lead after the second round of the John Hancock All- American Golf Classic.

Damron had a 9-under 133 total Friday on the 6,781-yard, El Paso Country Club course. Guy Hill, Warren Schutte and Brian Guay were tied for second at 135. Hill shot a 63 and Schutte and Gay had 66s.


OTTAWA (AP) - Curt Bowen scored with less than three minutes remaining to give the previously winless Ottawa 67s a 4-3 victory over the previously unbeaten Peterborough Petes in the Ontario Hockey League.

Peterborough’s season-opening winning streak ended at 11 with Friday night’s loss to the 67s, who began the season with nine consecutive losses.


JUPITER, Fla. (AP) - Clarence Moore of Winnsboro, S.C., beat defending champion Bill Bosshard of Copley, Ohio, 4 and 3 to advance to the semfinals of the U.S. Senior Amateur.

Moore, the 1988 champion, faced John Stieneker of Dallas in today’s semifinals on the 6,501-yard Loxahatchee Club course. Stieneker eliminated Archie Dadian of South Milwaukee, Wis., 2 and 1 in Friday’s quarterfinals.

Dick Goerlich of Tampa faced Robert Harris of Chaska, Minn., in the other semifinal. Goerlich beat Marty Graham of Hermitage, Tenn., 3 and 2 and Harris edged Wayne Samples of Port Ludlow, Wash., 1-up after 20 holes.
