A Crofton man died when his pickup collided with a semi on U.S. 81 in northeast Nebraska shortly before noon Thursday.
Kyle Mueller, 28, had been southbound on the highway and was attempting a left turn onto 898th Road, just south of the South Dakota state line, when his 2012 GMC pickup was struck by a 1994 Peterbuilt semi pulling an empty grain trailer, according to a Cedar County Sheriff’s Office news release. The crash happened around 11:51 a.m.
Mueller, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead on the scene. The semi driver, 28-year-old Scott Howard of Norfolk, was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured.
