Flash Flood Warning In Effect For Northern Luzerne County

October 3, 2018

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for northern Luzerne County and southern Lackawanna County, effective until 10:30 p.m.

Several hours of heavy rain could impact the region tonight, which could lead to urban flash flooding, according to the weather service.

Locations that could experience flooding include Wilkes-Barre, Kingston, Nanticoke, Pittston, Plains Twp., Scranton, Taylor and Old Forge.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low-lying spots.

Drivers should be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding, the weather service cautions.
