Georgia Southern rolls past Presbyterian 76-66
CANCUN, Mexico (AP) — Jelani Hewitt scored a game-high 26 points and Tre Bussey added 21 as Georgia Southern beat Presbyterian 76-66 on Wednesday.
Hewitt shot 9 of 17 from the field and Tre Bussey shot 50 percent as Georgia Southern faced off against Presbyterian in the Riviera bracket consolation round of the Cancun Challenge. Curtis Diamond added five 3-pointers and 18 points for Georgia Southern (3-4).
Reggie Dillard cut the deficit to three (57-54) for the Blue Hose after two free throws with 8:12 left to play. The Eagles responded with a 9-2 run that gave them a 10-point lead, and Presbyterian couldn’t get closer than nine points for the rest of the game.
Dillard scored 22 points and William Truss scored 10 and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Blue Hose (1-7).
