Police: Man pointed gun at officer before being fatally shot
NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say man who was fatally shot by a police officer in northern Indiana following a traffic stop pointed a handgun at the officer before he was shot.
State police on Thursday released updated information about the Tuesday evening shooting death of 40-year-old Michael Kline of North Manchester.
State police say a North Manchester officer pulled over a pickup for failure to properly signal a turn and Kline, who was driving the truck, stopped in a parking lot. Police say Kline got out of the truck with a gun before the officer fired shots at him.
Two other officers were on the scene. No officers were injured.
Police say methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in the truck. Prosecutors are expected to review the circumstances of the shooting.
