Bodies of missing teens found in creek on 5th day of search
BOGART, Ga. (AP) — After a five-day search, authorities have located the bodies of two missing teenagers near a dam east of Atlanta.
The bodies of Cameron Smith and Robert Bryant Wade, both 18, were located shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday. Oconee County sheriff’s chief deputy Lee Reems said at a news conference that one teen’s body was under logs and the other was approximately 100 yards away partially lodged under an unknown object.
The two were last seen Friday near the dam at the Puritan Mill site in Oconee County. Witnesses told authorities Wade was walking along the dam when he fell into the water, prompting Smith to jump in to try and save him.
News outlets report the bodies were found a quarter-mile from where they were last seen.
