Volunteers can help heal Beacon Hill burn

September 14, 2018

The Evergreen East Mountain Bike Alliance, Spokane Parks and Recreation and REI will be rehabbing burned areas of Spokane’s Beacon Hill on Sept. 29.

The popular mountain biking area was burned in a fire this summer.

The rehab work will include hand digging the fire lines so they match existing grades and seeding the burned area with native seeds.

Coffee and snacks will be available starting at 8:30 a.m. with a safety briefing at 9:30 and work starting at 10.

Organizers expect the work party to end around 2 p.m.

Volunteers should bring gloves, safety glasses, boots, shovels and rigid rakes.
