T-birds blow out Devils 67-42
BULLHEAD CITY — When Diego Rodriguez’s first-half, 20-foot buzzer-beater put the Dust Devils up by eight going into the intermission, everything was going River Valley High School’s way.
The T-birds turned the tables on their cross-town rivals by outscoring the Dust Devils 24-5 in the third quarter en route to their 67-42 victory at Mohave High School on Wednesday night.
“We couldn’t have played any better than we did during the first half,” River Valley boys head basketball coach Dan Powell said. “They played out of their minds.”
The Dust Devils went into the intermission ahead 27-19 before the T-birds went on their run.
Chris Jacques scored nine of his 12 points and Jaedyn Eastman tallied seven of his 10 points in the decisive third period for the 2-4 overall T-birds.
Mohave head coach Tyro Banks was impressed with Eastman’s performance in the paint.
“He got it going on the boards and cleared space out,” Banks said.
Diego Perez tallied seven of his team-high 13 points in the fourth quarter for Mohave.
Trevor Walked led the 0-2 overall Dust Devils with 14 points.
