ZARAGOZA, Spain (AP) _ Jose Antonio Lopez Bueno of Spain scored a third-round TKO against Mexico's Ruben Sanchez to claim the WBO flyweight title Friday night.

The 24-year-old Spaniard won before an adoring home crowd of 12,000 at the Prince Felipe Pavillion in this northeast city, stopping Sanchez in his second defense of the title he captured in August 1998.

Lopez Bueno dazed Sanchez with a solid right in the second of 12 scheduled rounds. He kept on the attack and scored with a flurry of punches that the Mexican survived only because of the bell ending the round.

The Spaniard came wasted little time at the start of the third round in dropping his opponent to the canvas, after which the referee stopped the fight.

Lopez Bueno's record goes to 13-3-1 with eight knockouts, while Sanchez's drops to 21-8-1 with nine KOs.

Lopez Bueno also is the second Spaniard to claim a title this year. Javier Castillejo won the WBC superwelter weight championship in January.
