DENVER (AP) _ Troy Murray had 27 points and Calbert Cheaney added 25 points as Washington beat Denver 112-107 Friday night for its first victory in three exhibition games.

Chris Webber had 23 points and 10 rebounds for Washington.

Eric Williams and Dan Fortson had 18 points each for the Nuggets, who have split four exhibitions.

Cheaney gave Washington its first lead since early in the game at 83-82 with a 3-pointer to close the third quarter. Denver had led 63-45 two minutes into the period, but Murray scored 11 points to pace Washington’s comeback.

Fortson gave Denver a 107-103 lead with two free throws with 1:40 left in the game. Webber made two free throws and Murray sank a 3-pointer with 44 seconds left to give Washington a 108-107 lead.

Webber sealed it with a dunk with 23 seconds left.

Washington was without Juwan Howard, who has a sprained right ankle, Gheorghe Muresan, sprained tendon in his right ankle and Tim Legler, pulled right hamstring.
