DAR presents Independence Day program at Woodlands Community

August 1, 2018

HUNTINGTON — The Buford Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution presented a Declaration of Independence Day program at the Woodlands Retirement Community on July 4. The program focused on the taxes and controls imposed on the colonists by the British Parliament and included prayers for the country. Patriotic songs were also sung at the event.

These “intolerable acts” brought calls for action against British rule resulting in the separation from Great Britain. The signers of the document understood the chance to free themselves and their children from the tyranny they saw in their lives.

Today, the Daughter of the American Revolution honor the courage and sacrifice shown by their ancestors.
