The following preliminary hearing is scheduled before District Judge Susan Mankamyer in Boswell:

Driving under the influence

Zachary Yost, 36, Clifford Street, Johnstown, was charged Dec. 10 with two counts of driving under the influence, drug paraphernalia possession, intentional possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered and three summary offenses. According to a probable-cause affidavit, just before midnight on Nov. 7 state police stopped a vehicle driven by Yost along Center Street in Boswell Borough for a warrant and tinted windows. Police found 5 grams of white powder identified as cocaine and a smoking device with residue in the vehicle, according to the affidavit. A blood test showed Yost had drugs in his system, including cocaine. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:15 a.m. March 6.

Theft

Robert McCartney, 44, Fayette Street, Washington, Pennsylvania, was charged Dec. 17 with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, habitual offenders and a summary offense. According to a probable-cause affidavit, at about 2:15 p.m. Nov. 29 McCartney took a package valued at $200 from a porch along Commonwealth Road in Jenner Township. McCartney’s formal arraignment in Somerset County court is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 25.
