Nominations open for 2018 Stamford Citizen of the Year

STAMFORD — Nominations are now being accepted for the 2018 Stamford Citizen of the Year.

The 2018 Selection Committee includes seven members, four of whom are previous Citizens of the Year. They are Selection Committee co-chairs and 2015 recipients Jay Sandak and Mary Sommer, 2016 recipient Richard W. Redniss, 2017 recipient Dudley N. Williams Jr., JWV Post 142 commander Steve Fischer, Jevera Kaye Hennessey of the law firm of Kaye and Hennessey LLC, and Kate Schwartz, Director at Cushman & Wakefield.

Nominees will be judged based on criteria set in place in 1945 when the award was established by Mayor Webster Givens. The nominee should demonstrate a belief in interfaith harmony, possess the highest standards of responsibility in civic life, help in the promotion of projects for the public welfare and has personally worked with distinction to benefit Stamford on a community-wide basis.

Nominations should be submitted by Monday, Dec. 3, 2018 and include a bullet-point summary of the nominee’s background in the criteria.
