October 10, 2018

WEYMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — Police are investigating a double shooting in Massachusetts that left one man dead.

The Norfolk district attorney’s office says officers responded to reports of gunfire at a Weymouth apartment complex at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities say 26-year-old Nicky Gomes, who was believed staying at the complex and had formerly lived in Brockton, was taken to a South Shore Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The second shooting victim, a man in his 20s whose name was not released, remains hospitalized and is expected to survive.

District Attorney Michael Morrissey says they were shot in the entranceway of a building.

No arrests had been announced as of Wednesday morning.
