MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) _ Sammie Freeman scored 14 points and Otis Mixon added 13 as Idaho defeated Idaho State 94-81 in a Big Sky Conference game Saturday night.

A scrappy Idaho State (8-14, 5-7) held on to the lead for much of the first half until a Ricardo Boyd three-pointer put Idaho (13-8, 7-3) ahead for good, 25-24, with seven minutes left.

Idaho led 44-32 at halftime. The Vandals started off the second half with an 11-4 run, and Idaho State’s David Fuller and Herman Smith fouled out.

Idaho State was outplayed on the boards with Idaho grabbing 45 rebounds to the Bengals’ 30. Deon Watson pulled in 14 rebounds for Idaho.

Idaho shot 48.5 percent for the game and Idaho State 45 percent. Leonard Perry and Terrell Malone each scored 10 points for Idaho, and Scott Roberts paced Idaho State with 16 points.

The Bengals played without starters Kareem Carpenter and Marcus Malone, both on disciplinary suspension.
