1 Dies in Maryland Walkway Collapse
ARBUTUS, Md. (AP) _ A pedestrian walkway collapsed onto the Baltimore Beltway during rush hour on Tuesday, killing one person and critically injuring several others.
Baltimore County Fire spokesman Mark Hubbard said the fatality appeared to be someone in a car. It was not immediately known whether anyone was walking on the bridge when it collapsed at about 5:30 p.m.
Hubbard said at least three people were in critical condition.
Traffic in both directions on Interstate 695 _ the main artery around the city _ was halted.
