DECATUR, Ga. (AP) _ A police officer who appeared in a television commercial praising bulletproof vests is recovering from her second shooting in less than three years.

Clementina Dillard, 29, was hospitalized in stable condition after the shooting Friday. She was wearing a bulletproof vest when she was shot in the abdomen and right hip while trying to break up a robbery at a fast-food restaurant.

Authorities suspect the bullet grazed the bottom of her vest.

Troy Tiki Sanders, 42, was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, armed robbery and drug violations.

In 1990, Dillard was shot in the face and side when a group of men started firing at her from their car. She was wearing a vest.

Dillard appeared with other police officers from around the nation earlier this year in a commercial for DuPont's lightweight, synthetic fiber Kevlar, used in bulletproof vests. The officers said the vests saved their lives.
