LEXINGTON — A 32-year-old Kearney man was arrested in Lexington after law enforcement officials located him with a woman believed to have been abducted early Tuesday.
Authorities with the Nebraska State Patrol, Custer County and Dawson County sheriff’s offices, and the Lexington Police Department worked together to quickly locate the woman and the suspect, according to a press release from the State Patrol.
According to the patrol, the Custer County Sheriff’s Office was called to a Callaway residence about 5 a.m. after reports that a woman had been taken against her will by a known acquaintance. The male suspect was reportedly also driving a stolen vehicle.
About 8:30 a.m., troopers were able to locate the suspect and victim at the Walmart in Lexington. A 32-year-old Kearney man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, violation of a protection order, false reporting, open container, possession of drug paraphernalia, and outstanding warrants. He is lodged at the Dawson County Jail.
