Idaho inmate dead in apparent suicide, IDOC reports
BOISE — The Idaho Department of Correction reported Thursday an inmate was found hanging in his cell Saturday, Dec. 15, and pronounced dead days later.
The inmate, Clifford Daniel Singer, 69, was pronounced dead Thursday. IDOC has said the hanging is an apparent suicide, but the Ada County Sheriff’s Department will conduct an investigation.
Singer, who was being held at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution in Boise, has a lengthy criminal record spanning three Idaho counties and includes charges of sexual assault, criminal trespassing and driving under the influence.
If ruled a suicide officially, it will be the second inmate suicide in December. On Dec. 10, Jim Nice, who was serving life in prison for the murder of his children, was found dead in a maximum security prison in Boise.
