Congressman Rice distributes school supplies to Marion County youth
MARION, S.C. -- More than 300 children were provide school supplies and treats from U.S. Congressman Tom Rice Friday as he made visits to Marion and Mullins for his Education First event.
“I feel so fulfilled and blessed to be out here and see these sparkling, hopeful eyes and faces looking at me,” he said.
Rice made his first stop at the Eliose Grice Recreation Center in Marion then followed up at the Mullins Recreation Department where he was joined by Mullins City Councilwoman Terry Davis, Willena Rembert and Anita Magwood with the Pee Dee Community Action Partnership.
“It’s good to know that we’re helping just a little bit to give them a start to the school year and prepare for the future because they are our future,” Rice said.
Rice and his staff finished the day supplying hundreds more of students at the Dillon Wellness Center and the Bennettsville Community Center.
