March 5, 1995

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) _ Kent Culuko scored 13 points Saturday, and James Madison opened the second half with a 23-8 run to dispatch William & Mary 73-50 in the opening round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.

The victory snaps a five-game losing streak for third-seeded James Madison (15-12), which will play Richmond in Sunday’s semifinals.

Without Carl Parker, six-seeded William & Mary (8-19) would have been scoreless during the Dukes run as the forward hit three jumpers and a pair of free throws.

Leading 35-30 at intermission, the Dukes opened the second half with a pair of jumpers and a 3-pointer by Darren McClinton and added a pair of Culuko 3-pointers en route to a 58-38 lead with 10:51 left. Culuko hit three of his four 3-point attempts for the game.

Louis Rowe and McClinton each had 14 for the Dukes.

Parker was the only William & Mary player in double figures with 12.
