Applemen eliminate Ripley with 52-7 win

MUSSELMAN, W.Va. — Blake Hartman and Tre Beard accounted for a combined six touchdowns, and Class AAA No. 4 Musselman’s defense forced four turnovers Friday night in a 52-7 rout of No. 5 Ripley.

MIDLAND TRAIL 20, SHERMAN 14: Class A No. 2 Midland Trail shut out Sherman in the second half and beat the No. 7 Tide 20-14 in the Class A state quarterfinals Friday night in Fairlea, West Virginia.

WILLIAMSTOWN 23, MOUNT VIEW 12: Boston Caruther’s three field goals helped sixthseeded Williamstown (10-2) knock off third-seeded Mount View, 23-12, in the Class state quarterfinals at Princeton, West Virginia. Caruthers hit from 27, 33 and 28 yards out as the Yellowjackets improved to 10-2.

JOHNSON CENTRAL 50, ASHLAND 14: The Golden Eagles defeated the Tomcats for the second time this season at home Friday night in the Kentucky Class 4A quarterfinals. The Golden Eagles (12-1) advanced to the semifinals for the fourth consecutive season while the Tomcats finished 11-2.

RACELAND 14, PAINTSVILLE 7: The Rams’ Judd Adkins caught a 52-yard touchdown pass from Jake Heighton and made a two-point conversion with 7:34 to play to rally past Paintsville. The win advanced Raceland (11-2) to the Kentucky Class A semifinals. The Rams will face Pikeville for a chance to move into the state championship.

CENTRAL 26, RUSSELL 0: The Red Devils were unable to take advantage of hosting its Kentucky Class 3A quarterfinal. With the loss, Russell finished its season at 8-5.

BOYLE CO. 41, BELFRY 24: The Pirates were a host team in the Kentucky Class 3A quarterfinals and lost for just the third time this season to Boyle Co. Belfry’s final record is 10-3.
