Katy Carolyn Harris, 48, of Anderson, Ind., and formerly of Kankakee, passed away on Friday (April 13, 2018) at the Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, until the 10 a.m. funeral services at the Zion Gate Baptist Church, where she had been a member. Pastor Ronald L. Bartlett will officiate. Interment will be in Mound Grove Gardens of Memory, Kankakee.
Katy was born on Sept. 1, 1969, in Clifton, the daughter of Tommie Harris and Mary Brooks. She attended Kankakee School District 111, graduating from Kankakee High School. Katy was a crafter, she enjoyed making jewelry of all kinds, cooking and was into fashion (hats, suits and sunglasses).
She will be remembered and memories cherished by her children, Markis (Marquita) Harris, Michael (April) Randle, Akyr Harris and Leslie Harris, all of Anderson, Ind.; sisters, Annette (Robert) Brooks-Hammond, Helen Brooks, Thomasina (Leonard) Mobley, all of Kankakee, and Estelle (Tyron) James, of Columbus, Miss.; brothers, Stevie (Pamela) Harris, of Detroit, Mich., Brian Carter, of Kankakee, and Tom (Erica) Dooley, of Macon, Miss.; 10 grandchildren; along with many aunts and uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including Marcus Randle and Marvin Harrison.
Preceding her in death were her mother, Mary Brooks; grandmother, Hattie Brooks; great-grandmother, Hettie Metcalf; three brothers, Thomas Brooks, Johnnie Brooks and Jeffery Tate; nephew, Tyrone Kennedy Sr.; and two aunts and six uncles.
