Town, county choose new volunteer board members
Elected officials selected new community members to serve on town and county advisory boards starting in 2019.
Out of nine applicants to the Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling Board, Rachel Daluge, Tanya Anderson and Wes Gardner will serve.
Gardner will also serve on the START Board, along with Kathy Kehr. Gardner hopes to tweak START schedules to be more efficient and find a way to incentivize business owners to get on board with the transit system.
Gardner, who unsuccessfully ran for county commissioner as an independent in November, is eager for a chance to play a role in enhancing the community’s recycling options and bring his experience as a business owner to the board.
“I’ve become more and more engaged and interested in providing options for recycling and for keeping plastic out of the waste stream,” he said.
Of seven applicants to the Jackson/Teton County Parks and Recreation Board, Geneva Chong will serve a full term, and Travis Samulski will serve a 1-year term.
Chong applied for the Parks and Rec board because she hopes to see the town and county’s recreation options developed “hand in hand” with workforce housing.
“I’m in favor, for example, of increased density, particularly of housing developments in town, but I also feel that we need to help Parks and Rec be able to meet increased demand for people to be able to be outside and have some connection with nature,” Chong said.
Andi Gordon and Kendall McCune will serve on the Pathways Task Force. Dr. Dan Forman and Dr. Scott Larsen will serve 3-year terms on the Teton County Board of Health, while Sadie Monaghan will serve two years.
The Affordable Housing Supply Board will add Matt Faupel, Jeff Collins and Dennis Callaghan. Michael Scheller was appointed to the Alta Solid Waste Disposal District, and Kasey Mateosky was appointed to the county Building Appeals Board.
A single seat on the Jackson Hole Airport board remains the only unappointed position. Nine applied for the role: Frank Lane, Bob McLaurin, Greg Herrick, Larry Warren, Alex Muromcew, George Bailey, Mark Roche, Peter Stalker and David NeVille. Town and county officials will further discuss the airport board appointment at a meeting Dec. 31.
