Being the 11th child of 13, he had the opportunity of learning the art of being a tease, hard work, and being spoiled by his sisters. During his high school years, he participated in football and wrestling which prepared him for service in the United States Air Force, as an air medic.

On November 18, 2006, he married his sweetheart, Wanda Metcalf, in the Provo Temple, blessing the family with two more children, Denise (Roger) Aagard and Kyle (Nicole) Metcalf.
Wilbur enjoyed serving his community in many ways, through owning Wil’s Foodland, by being a member of the JC’s, and Chamber of Commerce of Spanish Fork. He served as President of the Utah Retail Grocers Association.
He loved his horses, and was a member, officer, and president of the Diamond Fork Riding Club. He was honored by being inducted into the Diamond Fork Hall of Fame.
Wilbur exemplified his big heart with his lifelong service, compassion, and faith in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings, including Stake President, Bishop, Young Men’s President, Elder Quorum President, and High Council.
What he enjoyed most in life was his family. He loved family reunions. His grandkids brought the brightest twinkle to his eye and the biggest hugs. He loved the farming way of life. He loved his horses, cattle, and being on his tractor.
