Judge sentences man to 12 years for sexual assault of child
GENEVA, Ill. (AP) — A northern Illinois man is headed to prison for what officials say was the sexual assault of a child.
Kane County Associate Judge Clint Hunt on Thursday sentenced 62-year-old Thomas E. White of Elgin to 12 years in state prison. White pleaded guilty in March to criminal sexual assault.
Authorities say White had sexual contact in June 2014 with the victim, who was under the age of 18 at the time. The youth also was someone whom White knew.
White receives an extended prison term because of a prior felony conviction in 2006 for delivery of a controlled substance.
He also will have to register for life with the state as a sexual offender.
